Hitruu! The book series contains reality-based stories about Nellim, the Inari Sámi and their culture written in the Inari Sámi language. The books contain Inari Sámi-Finnish vocabularies and have also been made into audio tapes for language learning. The stories in the books have been collected and written by Teija Tamminen (e. Linnanmäki) from Nellim. The illustrations are by Riitta Ahonen.

Hitruu! 1

The first Inari Sámi elementary textbook Hitruu! 1 – Ááhu kuuvl accompanied by Ánna and Saammâli, introduces the Inari Sámi language and culture.

Intended for third graders to study Inari Sámi as a foreign language.

Hitruu! 2

In another Hitruu! 2 – Pennuuseibi! , Ánná and Saammâl continue their adventures in the small village of Nellim.

Intended for fourth graders.

Hitruu! 3

In the third Hitruu! 3 – Skipáreh Ánna and Saammâl are accompanied by more elderly people from the village, the closest of whom are Siggá Wall and Piäkká-isoeno.

Intended for fifth graders.

Hitruu! 4

In the fourth book, Hitruu! 4 – Sämieennâm Ánná and Saammâl are already sixth graders. Each book describes the traditional customs associated with the seasons in one year. The Sámi worldview is more strongly involved in this book.
